Our child was exclusively breastfed during her first year so our pediatrician recommended either Trivisol or Polyvisol with iron. I think the earlier one star reviewer may have been talking about the terrible smell and taste of polyvisol because she/he is right, it just plains smells bad (like very strong medicine smell) and my baby does not look forward to taking it. Trivisol on the other hand smells fine and my child actually opens her mouth almost like she is expecting a treat, so I would stick with the Trivisol unless you have a specific need for Polyvisol.
Our child’s hematocrit count went from a substandard 28 to an excellent 39 after just 6 weeks using the Trivisol! That is just one easy dose per day. So I have to give this 5 stars because we really haven’t changed anything in our child’s diet except for adding Trivisol.
They make this with iron and without so be careful when ordering to specify with iron if your child needs the extra iron…
